one of the reasons I am resisting is that after the first couple of months with the s4, EVERYONE will have the s4...this makes it less attractive....

as Sheldon said once:

"Actually, he might have to. There’s an economic concept known as a positional good in which an object is only valued by the possessor because it’s not possessed by others. The term was coined in 1976 by economist Fred Hirsch to replace the more colloquial, but less precise neener-neener."

Apparently DSE might be getting it this week or next week, My manager told a customer that he was going to play with one when they come in next week, (said yesterday)

Maybe he's talking through his ass

They learn to do that in manager school... :-)

It's actually better to have as many users as possible.
More users = more future software updates/firmwares

My S2 currently runs on 4.2.1 and Samsung guaranteed 4.2.2 as well. This is rather impressive on

Sammy's part, taking good care of 2 yr old phone.

Lots of people owning an S4 doesn't make it less attractive for me either, that means more people with access to Samsung stuff like the faster wireless transfers over S-Beam, a better development community.

This is brilliant, and totally true.  iDevice's and Samsungs are both so ordinary/boring to me right now.

I wonder if Fred Hirsch also coined the term "hipsters"...

Meh I could care less if people have them, I am just sick of the overly bright colours and plastic

Its not the end of the world but I take better care of shiny things

Well the overly bright colours has a fix on the S4 - the Adobe RGB mode. Better colour temperature than the One/Butterfly by a country mile (~6900 Vs 8000 for the HTCs, which is more blue than the S3 et al and always bothered me far more than the bright colours). Be interesting to actually see it with my own eyes and see how it is.

Just heard back from Noel Leeming. They said they wont be getting any Black version of the phone at this stage. They said the grey one should be available early May. I emailed back asking for a date.

They seemed quite happy to cancel my order if i didnt want to wait - i think patience is a virtue in this case so I told them I am happy to wait.

Anyone heard of any dates when the phone will be available?

First off, Hello, I'm Deanzo, this is my first post here :)

I've been keeping an eye on this thread and many others over the web looking out for user reviews/feed back.

Haven't really had anything to add till now, but on the talk of if it's more or less attractive to have a phone with a large user base.
I'd say for sure better.
I imported a HTC One S into NZ almost as soon as it came out.

And it's been a great phone, but with the much lower user count next to the S3 or even the One X, does lower the amount of accessories. As it turned out, no one ended up stocking it here, so everything I wanted had to come from overseas.

After having the One S for a year now, I would point out for anyone looking at getting the "One" Dont buy the black!
The One S is all but the same kind of metal body, and even though I really look after my stuff, it has chip type marks almost all the way round :(
I like the look and the feel of the metal body, so I don't and would never use a case.

I really want the One as my next phone (would make 3 HTC's in a row) but if the S4 is in stock on the 27th, and if there is no hard 100% eta date which is soon after that for the One, it's going to be very hard to hold out.
