So i'm pretty keen on picking up a P7000 - I know this doesn't work on LTE in NZ but how does it fare for normal 3G on Spark/2 Degrees?

What makes you think LTE won't work in NZ?

It supports LTE bands 1/3/7/20 but NZ is band 28 right?

Afaik NZ is mostly band 3, depends on location though.

Ahh okay thanks for clarifying. It seems Spark/Vodafone use a mix of band 3/28.
Do you have any idea of the coverage for each band?

Isn't it mostly Band 3 at present and Band 28 is/will start to be more prominent in cities? It'll be fine on all carriers for 3G

Also best price I've seen that isn't part of that pre-sale promo is $263 on everbuying.net with EBP7000 coupon

Which provider are you with?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I researched these sorts of phones before Christmas, and got the Redmi Note 4G.   Looking for something in the sub 4.5" range now, any recommendations?

lokhor: I got the Elephone P7000 on snap deal for $160 USD on 13/5 and it still hasn't shipped :/

Have you received the phone yet ?

Please post your reveiw as I am keen on getting one myself.
But those special Wednesday sales are horrible to use!
I wait for the icon to change to 'snap' and when I click I get routed to the selleer's Ali Express website where
it will say that they have no stock, or the website is all in Indonesian or Arabic and I am very reluctant to use
these sites.

If your experience is good , I might just order from the elephone Hong Kong website than wasting time
on the Wednesday sales

thanks

My phone has been shipped but I haven't received it yet. I used Singapore Post so not sure how fast it's going to be. I will likely write a review about it. Need to start up another site for blogging ><

Keen to hear how others get on with these things.

The wife has a Samsung S3 for work, but after a few screen changes (what crap do they make these things out of ?!) it's running really slowly and erratically now.
Time for a new one and am prepared to take a punt on a higher spec but non NZ name brand.

The Elephone P7000 thing looks good.  The website and snap deal thing looks ridiculous though!

I reckon just get a local device instead, there are some wicked mid-range devices coming out for cheap as these days. The Vodafone Smart Prime is a lot better than the S3 for $149

Thanks man, will look further into it.
I see it's locked to Vodafone.  The wife is on 2Degs work cell.  I see the point about shopping local though, and for a 'production' level device, that's often important.

Just saw this too, if of any use/interest to others:
