There's a Doc ROM at XDA which has a basic install plus two or three add-on installations, one of which is Swype. It's not a JVH ROM though - it's something earlier, maybe JPY. So it may not even work with GB. But it can't hurt to try it. Have a search for Froyo Swype zip and Doc and see what shows up. And if it works, you can buy me a beer. Or help me with one of my regular cock-ups.

If it doesn't work, well...

HTH.

Try this CWM flashable zip: http://www.multiupload.com/XGMGLF8REE

It worked on JVH based roms for me.

ill have a hunt for it. i uninstalled the offending swype using titanium backup, then rebooted to recovery and installed a themed swype from this collection: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028530

it installed fine, and now i have a new themed swype keyboard, but upon using it, same problem. it will not swype (plays warning sound when you swype anything)

grrr... more research needed on how to reset this thing's counter, i think.....

Try wiping the cache using titanium backup and then maybe uninstall using titanium backup, then flash again from cwm.

It was swype_jpo.zip. Should be easily findable I'd think.

Good luck with your odyssey. :D

It could be swipe beta that was used for the build, there is a new beta released and the old one is expiring.
Go to this web site and try upgrading to the new one

ok... it seems certain swype packages work and certain others dont. i deleted swype using TB and deleted the libSwypeCore.so file from system/lib using root explorer, and then rebooted and reset default keyboard, and then into recovery and reflashed another swype, and finally it works again.

i was wanting a stock swype keyboard but they didnt work... so using this bloodred themed one, im getting used to it its actually quite cool

Talking of the new Beta Swype.  I downloaded Tricky103's (alpha really) SGSII rom last night and the first app I tossed out was the Swype one so I could get the beta swype installed.

Initially I was over the moon.  Nice changes, liked the trail animation but then it stopped working.  I could swype and it would show me the list of possible words, the one highlighted by default was right but it wouldn't pop it into my window.  Even pressing the highlighted word amounted to nothing.

So for no reason I could fathom, in the middle of a perfectly working swype message it just stops.

I've gone back to Swift Keyboard Free which isn't too bad really if you're looking for a non-swype kb.

Since flashing JVP, I've had my phone coma twice after an unknown period of sleep activity. The phone is unresponsive and to reboot I have to hold the power button down for 7-8 seconds (more than twice the length of time to boot the phone normally).

Its like a deep hibernation that the phone can't recover from. Others on XDA with a similar problem have to take out the battery in order to recover and they have also had this happening on stock roms, so I'm not sure that it is the same issue. I hope its not, because there doesn't appear to be a fix for that particular issue. :(

No such oddness here but I factory reset, wiped caches and re-partitioned and anything else I could think of prior to the flash. (thank goodness for TI)... Mine's a stock ROM.

I did take care to do all of that but of course my rom isn't stock, its kitchen built, with Speedmod and EXT4 kernel and I did restore some data from some select few titanium backed up apps and games. All factors that could be contributing to the problem.

Which speedmod version is it? some of the earlier versions had the sleep problem but it has since been resolved

BIG thanks for mentioning that! I just gave it a second glance and sure enough, its K15H T4!!!

I flashed stock JVP and then flashed K15H T8b and did the EXT4 conversion to get root/cwm etc.
I then built a rom from the kitchen which I knew had the old T4 kernel included in it, but I manually swapped that out of the zip (using 7-zip) as I have done in the passed and then flashed it to the phone.
I completely forgot that I hadn't followed this up and assumed I was running T8b Yell

Screw trying to inject kernels into roms, I'm over that. I'll just flash the newer kernel over the top from now on. Like a normal person. Thanks again.
