I would imagine a few things will happen: (I believe these are 'at risk' and are a cause fro concern for consumers looking to buy Huawei)
1. Huawei will access AOSP for the short term
2. Huawei will not release security patches that have come from Google as of today (they may try implement their own, maybe)
3. Play store access will continue for existing devices sold under previous Google/Huawei agreements (until Trump amends US law again - high chance of this happening I believe)
4. Google Pay/ MDM / banking apps /work apps and other services requiring 'approved' devices will NOT work (existing devices may in still in the short term??)
5. Google hardware ecosystem may block Huawei (Chromecast/Google Home/Assistant)
I think the NZ Government needs to jump in NOW to protect the NZ consumer - not from Huawei spying (which if found true sounds manageable according to UK's NCSC) but from NZders purchasing unsupportable Android devices.
So basically the US govt banned Huawei and set a law to force all US companies to stop trading with Huawei.
I wonder if this ban will later escalate to all Chinese companies? Like Lenovo, Oneplus, Xiaomi, etc...
A person from Consumer has stated that their official position is that this is grounds to return your Huawei under the CGA.

But we don't even have an official word from either Google or Huawei yet - we know the company is in the list and we have third party reports...

So the big question is: Should I return my brand new unopened P30 that I received this morning from VF?
Well, maybe not return but I wouldn't open it yet. Wait a day or two, we will know more then.
Massive blow to Huawei though if true, holy crap. I'll be returning my Mate 20 Pro if its true. Better be covered under the CGA.
coud this start WW3?
I think this thread should be in the politics section!
so my dream P30 Pro is about to become very affordable soon eh
Chinese Govt will be furious, Huawei is their darling.
So Google, who spy on users every move and don't even try to hide the fact, is being forced by a government to stop support for a phone manufacturers products as they "might" be used for spying. I find this quite ironic personally.
Aredwood: Interesting how Huawei Japan and UK are on that list. But Huawei NZ is not.
Guessing that if the GCSB hadn't blocked Spark from using Huawei equipment for its 5G network. Then Huawei NZ would also be on the list.
At least Spark and Vodafone can keep on buying HG695 routers.
WaxerNZ: I reckon in the way of business. I don't think they will retaliate that way. Let the US destroy their own reputation as being untrustworthy to do business with.
Does anyone legitly believe they are blocking huawei for security reasons?

Yes I can believe it does have security aspects.
The NSA and various us organisation probably have experience in hacking/manipulating routers and various infrastructure.
They probably fear China doing what they (USA) have been doing for years to other countries infrasture.
Wasnt there a report of NSA or CIA intercepting a shipment of routers after leaving the manufacturing plant and introducing altered firmware then sending the routers on to their final destination.
The mad screaming of Chinese government on this issue? Just national pride or is there something else also going on ?
The US is heavyhanded and aggressive, plus its THE superpower. China is growing, national pride is a biggie, plus they want to be No.1. Financially they will be in a few years
Its an alpha male issue simplistically.
