Really am interested in the Pro version and will probably look to get it at some stage, but I'm going to hold off for just a while. I was an early adopter of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and was unfortunate to have a device plagued with screen issues. It looks like the OP8 Pro may be having a similar issue, although it's too early to tell if it's hardware or software related. Will follow this closely over the coming weeks.

You can’t really justify charging premium prices if the premier hardware isn’t available. The inability to take advantage of the charging speeds means I won’t waste my money on this phone.

Sure, that's fair. If your number-one priority in a phone is very fast proprietary wireless charging, you won't find anything in ANZ for several years until the tech is standardised. This happens regularly across many different categories and industries. Region-gating of products and features is frustrating no matter where you encounter it.

You can of course import the fast wireless charger and use a converter, but a local retailer cannot sell you one.

All mobile brands are in the same boat here, e.g. Huawei's fast wireless charging tech is only available via the car charger, because you cannot certify an international charger for use in ANZ.

It is what it is and it's up to individuals to decide if that's important to them or not.

The 7 Pro's PD support was a bit hit or miss I felt. Looking forward to testing this out on the 8 series - although our usual test benches aren't accessible under lockdown, so there'll be some improvisation. Expecting it will do better in this department than the previous gen.

I have a 15W PD charger to hand + a PD-compliant C-to-C cable, but all the widgets for measuring throughput are locked away in the office! Hoping some of that kit can be snagged at level 3, I'm sure there's all sorts of interesting stuff being done at homes around the country right about now.

Use-cases for phones change a bit under lockdown eh.

Wow, $1900? No chance. Samsung and Apple barely get away with being able to charge that, OnePlus sure as hell aren't.

I would be very dubious

Expansys looks like it could be the Chinese version which as others have said does not have band 28

I'm expecting local price to be $2k+ as uk is £889, Hong Kong is HKD8998 which converts to NZD1900~1950
