Yeah, it should work on XT as i understood it. Just bought a Nexus rather than wait myself but will be keen to hear how anyone goes.

Would branding really matter? Couldn't you just flash a custom ROM onto it like the cyanogen one for the nexus?

HI Ryan, not quite sure which post you're replying to, anyhow a few of us are talking about sourcing from a UK site clove.co.uk where they can ship it to us for approximately NZ$800 +GST (so prob nearler $900 all up) + you'll have to fork out for a power adaptor.  If there are any folk in Dunedin keen to order, I'm wondering about splitting the shipping costs if we order together.

Warranty - it does carry the manufacturer's warranty but its not as easy as dealing with one bought locally if it goes bung.  The UK model will only work in 3G on our Vodafone network.  Some folk though are suggesting the Desire to be released in Australia later in the month will work on XT's network (850/2100 MHz WCDMA)

Here's all the details here.  As I understand it, it comes with 8gb card but will take up to 32.  No idea on the GPS, no reviews have said anything negative about it that I've seen.

Its GPS chip will be the same one I have in my HD2, its excellent, so no worries there.

Regards cards - it doesn't come with 32Gb cards. Regards compatibility - I will be able to tell you as soon as I have my Desire, since I will pick up my 32GB microSD card tomorrow!

where did you get you 32gb micro sd from in NZ? I take it that its a sandisk model ?
I'm torn at the moment  regards getting an overpriced 32 gb microsdhc card thats only class 2 or a kingston 16gb card that class 10.

Shipito is great, a few of us here used it to get N900's from Amazon when they had an excellent pre-sale price ($670 NZ). Useful relatively often to circumvent shipping restrictions on electronic goods. Search the forums here, there is a thread where Euanandrews and I go through the whole process :)

Used "comgateway.com". They ship out of Oregon, so no US sales tax. They use DHL.

They are actually a Singapore company set up originally to ship US goods to SG and MY. But they have since gone global. I just got my Nexus One through them...and it all went well. Just the phone and the shipping charge and the NZ GST,
