With the move to 2.2 I need to get a bigger microSD card. Can anyone recommend an 8 or 16Gb card?

Sandisk always perform the best, don't buy into the manufacturers touting Class 10 cards - they actually benchmark slower than Sandisk.

I've got a Transcend Class 6 16gb card, and it works marvelously well :)

Current Phone: HTC Desire (rooted) [Android 2.2] running custom-baked MoDaCo r8 RC1 Froyo ROM w/ Apps2SD+

ok so how come if i do a manual search for updates in my system settings there is no update to 2.2 showing...

i have HTC desire from E infotech in Auckland.

AND if a application icon shows in the 'hold-home-button' menu does that mean its sitll running running in the background and thus using battery/RAM?

Not necessarily. It's just what apps you had open before/might want to reopen.

Apps will be cached in RAM so they re-start up faster. RAM costs nothing battery wise and android will automatically flush the application cache if something else needs more ram.

So am I but I think you can only get them from the states for $200+ and I think they are only class 2 which might not be fast enough for 720p video recording.

16gb via amazon.uk is the best deal I have found so far. 32gb still moonbeams!

Class 2 is just fine for 720P video, I use a 32GB card in my Galaxy S. They are disproportionately expensive right now though, for me it was worth it to have my whole music collection on my phone, may not be to others.

so.. i'm using Handcent SMS, and now i'm getting two notifications for each message... i can't find a way to uninstall the HTC built in messenger - is there a way of doing this please...?

and I still can't find the 2.2 update

Go into the default "Messages" app, click your "Menu" button, then "Settings". Turn off all the notifications near the bottom of the "Settings" menu, and you'll only get Handcent notifications from now on :)
