Ramboss: URGENT NOTICE, just doing my daily deal browsing and came across this http://www.top-10.co.nz/ Its a HTC Sensation (unlocked) for $869 inc GST.

Looks like its the 900/2100MHZ (vodafone) one, Pretty good deal, i would be very tempted if i had the cash.
Also the have a Galaxy 16GB SII their for $910 inc GST. Good deals I think

Note that it doesn't include ANY warranty and you need to purchase it at $89 a pop. A bit dodgy.

Sorry i didn't read entire page yes its $869 but then you need 1 year insurance at least so another $89 and then $22 shipping. So not such a good deal at $980.

And they just parallel import so you prob do need insurance

If it's only the 900/2100 version you are after they are available from Ebay for AUD$598 - free P&H (link below). Ships from Hong Kong with 99+% feedback. A number of people on the Whirlpool forum (mentioned above) have purchased and are very happy with delivery and product. If its the 850 you are after then obviously you need to wait for Telecom release

Also Smoothmobiles.com.au in Australia for AUD$595

The one I'm getting is from a local company, and is only costing me $800 delivered, which is also sourced from HK. It's the Vodafone version, and I'm not getting any insurance as it'll be covered by local CGA. That deal isn't that good, when you know of other deals.

Yay! My new HTC Sensation has arrived from Telecom! I ran to a quiet room and unboxed it.

It feels great. Nice weight. Solid. Big screen. Very clean lines. Charging the battery now and will post more video later, after lunch.

Thanks to Mark Ambrose for manning the phone cam. :-)

So as not to be left out of the unboxing bonanza, here's some stills. Forgive the quality - it was a bit of a rush, and a grey day in Auckland.

:-)

These phones are definitely pre-release as you can see by the packaging and the lack of a user manual. Not an issue as we'll be able to download the manual by PDF.

Phone is charging so I haven't played with it as yet. One immediate observation is that there's no battery graphic while the phone is off that shows the progress of the charge - something I'm used to with the SGS. There is an LED however that changes colour based on the state of charge.

Tried the supplied earbuds on my SGS but they're not the in-ear variety and normal buds won't stay in so I'll be reverting to my Skull Kandy in-ears for testing. Suffice to say, I can't give a decent test of their quality, so either LinuxLuver or lokhor will be doing that. I will give a review of the Sensation's audio though.

Depending on how long the Sensation takes to charge, I'll take a look at the screens of the new toy vs the SGS and report back later today.

Initial impression is that the phone feels a little larger in the hand, but solidly constructed.

More in a bit... :-)

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation has gone to its new
owner. Galaxy S3 has gone to its new owner. Now using Galaxy Note 3. Skipping Note 4 I think...

I've got an HTC Desire which I really like, but having a bit extra memory for app installation would be great. Not sure if the old finances can handle an additional purchase at the moment, but it does look good.

Screen res still 800 x 480?

The Nexus S II also looks fantastic, but again, with this sort of thing waiting for 3-6 months will mean something new will be along.

The LCD screen has had a boost to 'quarter HD' or QHD which is 960 by 540. It's great for web browsing, with the dual core you can smoothly zoom in and out of flash video while it's playing and the extra pixels make the pages look sharp.

I couldn't wait. I put the SIM in, powered it up and signed into my Gmail account.

Initial impression is: This phone is FAST. Easily the fastest Android phone I've ever had my hands on.

Gonna go make a short video now. Lunch time!

Oh I have a question for Linuxluver and the other lucky two who got this phone.. Is HTC Watch on the phone? Does it work here in NZ?

Thanks

Love to. Besides the adapter, I'll need an HDMI cable, yes?
