They will not use them for "new" resale, they are refurbished phones which would likely be used as warranty replacements and sold in their official refurbished products site in america.

Has anyone who has had a before and an after phone compared battery life yet? I have a feeling that they may have had to give something up in that area :(

quite a few people are actually saying their battery life is better with their replacement phone. i've only had it a couple of days so i cant really say yet. seems fine so far though.

they are doing the same on AirNZ flights here although they aren't checking anything. i'm glad i didnt have to explain to an air hostess with a bigger smile than an IQ about the green battery icon on mine when i flew yesterday.

I didn't know they were doing weekend delivery, now I'm wondering if they're delivering on Sunday... Please let it be so.

Interesting. I flew from Seattle to Atlanta today for Microsoft Ignite 2016 and the FA must have made that announcement at least 4 times

What do you guys use for your always on display (if you are using it)?

I'm wondering if there's a screen that takes less battery than the others or if theyre all the same.

on a different topic, i noticed the 'masking' option for the iris scanning is showing now. it wasn't there when i had the phone last time. they must have introduced it in the FW revision when i didn't have it. has anyone else seen any other features since getting their replacements?

was also wondering if 'battery improvements' on the last couple of updates is why people are seeing better battery life.

i was looking into that this morning but i think the options are limited. i think the display is a little too bright too, i wouldnt mind seeing an option to dim it down a bit. having said that it doesnt seem to use much battery so possibly isnt really an issue.

I'm no expert in phone electronics but I read somewhere that the screens use no power to display black, if that helps!

I thought I saw some new changes as well, was trying to find out how to use the mask feature when it first came out as all the promotional pictures showed overlays on their screen.

I've also noticed that if I long hold onto an icon to move it, a new quick settings overlay pops up which I'm sure I haven't seen before.

Also it'd be quite interesting to see if anyone has any experience with battery usage with the always on display.

Digital Mobile don't seem to want to let me swap from Platinium to Black as a replacement. When I was in Singapore they said they didn't care (Samsung) what colour people picked.

it might have to do with available stock. most places seem to be making their own rules to suit themselves.

I've not seen any blue ones listed on Spark or VF. Did we not get that colour?

What makes you say that?

They said it was from the electrodes of the battery contacting, which would probably need to thicken up the spacers whick would reduce the area of the cell so therefore lower the capacity.

Its basically fighting physics with the demand for smaller more dense energy storage and things like this will happen occasionally when they push too hard against their manufacturing tollerances.
