Hey, Just in case others are missing the 3 button recovery I just found another way of enabling it and apparently its a safer method than others out there (not sure if that true) Worked for me though !!!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785201

Now i have a working recovery option, can anyone tell me what is the best lag fix option out there ? as thats the biggest killer of my phone at the moment.

Cheers

Well after rebooting the laptop to reinstall the new version of Kies, I paid attention to the error message which is:
vstor40_x86.exe is not a valid win32 application

Seems incompatible with 32bit computers. Well that sucks. But it also explains why DrD was able to get it to install correctly.

The plot thickens.

I just tried to install this on my work laptop which is XP.  I get the same (above) win32 application message.

And now on my work computer - Win7 64bit.  I get the following screen shot.

DrD, I take it you didn't get any such error message when you installed on your Win7 machine.

Mine loaded fine after uninstall of the old version of Kies. Also I'm running Windows 7. But it shouldn't matter, because on the Samsung site it says it's compatible with both XP and Vista...

Yes I saw that too.  In the end, despite the error message I've continued with the install and although I get a missing file message on my Win7 machine, Kies runs.  Same with XP.  But at home on Vista, it wont load Kies at all.

Quick vid to show off HID profile support in 2.2 firmware builds, really enjoying it with TV Out, like having another laptop in the house (one with a 42inch screen mind). Need to sort out some remote desktop action, should be sweet with this setup!

Very impressive mate! I'm also loving how snappy the handset is.

Thats just the 2.2 firmware without any lagfixes (with about 3 days uptime to that point in time, and around 50 apps installed).

OK, I'm getting quite a few enquiries via PM now about how to update to Froyo, so I'm making a new topic on the issue :)

If you make a guide make sure you tell people to undo/reverse/uninstall their lag fix before updating the firmware.

I'm not making a guide, only referring them to the comprehensive XDA one...

EDIT: Apparently the thread I linked to missed that detail (or at least I didn't see it on a quick scan now), added that to my topic - good pickup there, thanks!
