senesman: yip, its S-off-ed ? what does the "S" mean BTW? I have not really seen any reference to it. I thought it min it might mean "sensation" ?but that doesnt make any sense hehe

OK....well I have got my head around it now!

I have go thru all the steps and as far as I can tell I am rooted and I have done the super cid thing too.

Anyway, I downloaded ICS from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21989063&postcount=2

Its all installed with no errors, BUT Its still starting to boot then restarting !!! AGH

Anyway, I downloaded ICS from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21989063&postcount=2

Its all installed with no errors, BUT Its still starting to boot then restarting !!! AGH

You could try pulling the battery, leaving it out for 30 seconds, replacing it and re-booting. May help.

The ROM you downloaded is a modded one which probably is a step too far for your current experience, but it's done now.

I would have stuck with the stock jobbie I suggested earlier, and I can testify to its working. If you can't resolve your issue with the revolution ROM, you can do a wipe and try it later.

But for now, I'm out of ideas. Maybe somebody else can step in to help.

the reason I didnt use that one you suggested was because there are no downloads. the download links are gone. The guy mentions it in the first post.
I have found another one, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432220 but not sure, do There is a PG58IMG file and a ROM. Which one do I install first? the rom or the PG58IMG ?

So I applied the PG58IMG from that site in my last email, and just when I thought....agh...damn it.....the Telecom logo came up, and my phone is WORKING again !! however....it not ICS its still saying its Android 2.3.4.....maybe I should just forget it :-(
oh well....at least its rooted now :-)

Did you click the link in the thread immediately above this? That takes you to a download page and the PG58IMG.zip link there works. Tried it not 5 minutes ago. If you're not inclined to use it, all good, but it's there and it works.

Up to you though.

Remember to back up from recovery before you flash though.

Substitute whatever custom ROM you want... I use insertcoin.. it's older, but stable

ok....welll....I am downloading now...gotta say....I am scared now :-)
HOWEVER....this is a 400 and something MB file ! all the others have be small the biggest was 16mb!
Thats gotta be what the issues was....I swear I followed the instructions!

If you do a backup from recovery, you won't need a Titanium backup as the saved image will have system and user data in it, like cloning a HDD. It'll take a bite out of your disk space though, but well worth it to restore from should the new flash be unacceptable for any reason.

Good luck with the flash, and hopefully you'll be enjoying ICS in an hour.

is it too early for Ice Cream ?? I dont Think so !!

I now have ICS on my phone!! YAY. It DID take quite a while, but by 12:34 I was looking at a fresh install of ICS on my phone!
Now....I feel like a Jelly Bean

But atleast NOW I know what I am doing now!

I feel like I should write a "how to" or something as there were definitly some "gotyahs" along the way.
The main one being that the PG58IMG shoudl be hundreds of MG not 10's of MBs!

The other one that I forgot to mention was, I didnt get the 4ext recovery menu UNTIL I did a Factory Reset. Then it booted into it. I have seen no documentation that said you had to do that!

Anyway, now I nust need to get it setup how I like it again and its all good :-)

Thanks again to R2. you help was invaluable ! Here is a virtual beer for you :-)

Jelly Bean update:

The XDA devs have sorted out the audio issues in the alpha ROM so in-call audio and front and rear speakers and headphones are all working. While it's still an alpha by their definition, the devs have pretty much made this ROM usable as a daily driver for the adventurous.

The following are still issues:
Camera (next on the fix list
Video playback is buggy (temp fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=29243391 )
Boot animation crashes half way through boot (Don't care personally)

About to download and install, so I'll post back with the glitches I find.

But it's a huge leap forward for the Sensation and it'll be good to move to Jelly Bean so early in the cycle.
