The Power Off screen has changed from JPK (which was different to the Optus Firmware).

Are you seeing:
Top in blue: Power off
Sound is ON
Data network mode
Airplane mode is OFF
Sound is OFF

The Power off button appears now to be the Sound is OFF button. At least that's what I pressed and it turned the phone off. But this doesn't make logical sense. The icon is correct for "power" but the narration, Sound is OFF is illogical.

Could someone please confirm if they're seeing the same options when you go to power off the phone. TIA

No mine looks like this on JPM (I like that the screenshot feature still works on this dialog). Try a factory reset from the recovery menu (but this wipes all your data obviously).

Why do i keep getting "No Response from server. Please check if your internet connection is activated and try again." every time i click on the update icon on Samsung Kies (Latest Version)

Nice Finally got Froyo, all installed and running quite smoothly..

Anyone know what lag fixes can be used wit froyo if the phone gets laggy after a few days ?

numfarr: No mine looks like this on JPM (I like that the screenshot feature still works on this dialog). Try a factory reset from the recovery menu (but this wipes all your data obviously).

I'd like to report back it worked. But it hasn't (and I cleared the cache too). I was surprised to see the Battery Mod still in the notification bar, I thought it would be wiped with a factory reset.

Here's my power off screen. It hasn't changed. And here's what my Notifcation drawer shows, notice the weird characters below "vodafone".

When the screen appears to enter your PIN it already tells me it's Invalid and I've not pressed any keys. When I was entering my email address (to log into Gmail) the "go" or whatever named button it is (bottom right of keyboard) has a bunch of weird characters.

And when Media Scanner is running it tells me the external SD is empty and it's not.

Any suggestions? I've got to say Odin never presented this sort of mish mash of problems, in fact no problems. Does anyone know if I could just flash using Odin the same FW? TIA

Are you happy with your decision?

No to the first, yes to the second. I like it but it's quirky. I haven't had problems with GPS and "lag" but some people seem to be badly affected by it. If there was a really good Cyanogenmod for it, which could still happen, I might recommend it for someone else then.

Also after all their shenanigans with Froyo I'm not that confident that Samsung is going to do a good job with Gingerbread, or even that they will make it available for this phone.

I have installed roughly 100 apps and now it's laggy as hell :( can't wait for Voodoo fix for Froyo

Yes, I would use Odin to reflash JPM, that looks messed-up.

Flashed using Odin last night and all in order with one difference. The CSC number between Kies flash and the Odin .tar file are different. I don't know whether it matters or not. I'm inclined to pay for the donate version of Titanium. After restoring twice yesterday I'm a bit over all the confirms, plus I'd quite like more than one backup.

You can find it here. It's Option C. I have Root Explorer so after taking a backup of the default framework-res.apk file, I just overwrote the file with the one in the zip file (download). That's since I've purchased Root Explorer. The first time I applied this Mod (before updating FW to JPM) I used the "manual" instructions - which resulted in me spending some hours getting my head around using Adroid SDK (which isn't difficult, just a bit of learning). I'd say for the few dollars Root Explorer costs, it's well worth buying, if nothing else, to save yourself time.

And not to mention it's such an easy app, you can get rid of Astro, it works the same, but it allows you access to the /system directory, and you can easily go from r/o to r/w. Copy/paste etc simple as.

I got round to flashing JPM via Odin last night using Ubuntu + Virtual Box + Windows 7. Everything went smoothly.

Liking Froyo, most of my gripes about Android seem to be dealt with by Google. Although it's a shame Samsung still haven't sorted out the problems with this phone and their build is very poorly optimised for the hardware.

hrmmm i found with JPM (unoffcial) my antenna is shonky and lose singal in places i wasnt loosing signal with jpk....
