numfarr: No mine looks like this on JPM (I like that the screenshot feature still works on this dialog). Try a factory reset from the recovery menu (but this wipes all your data obviously).

halfbaked: Even with the known issues with these phones would you still recommend them to a friend?
Are you happy with your decision?

Neets: Any suggestions? I've got to say Odin never presented this sort of mish mash of problems, in fact no problems. Does anyone know if I could just flash using Odin the same FW? TIA

I'd like to report back it worked. But it hasn't (and I cleared the cache too). I was surprised to see the Battery Mod still in the notification bar, I thought it would be wiped with a factory reset.
Here's my power off screen. It hasn't changed. And here's what my Notifcation drawer shows, notice the weird characters below "vodafone".
When the screen appears to enter your PIN it already tells me it's Invalid and I've not pressed any keys. When I was entering my email address (to log into Gmail) the "go" or whatever named button it is (bottom right of keyboard) has a bunch of weird characters.
And when Media Scanner is running it tells me the external SD is empty and it's not.
