Hey guys,

I have an HTC One M8. When I bought it from Noel Leeming the saleman said it was the unlocked version. Now as far as I know, the unlocked versions have received the recent update to Android 5.0 (Lollipop)

Is there anyway I can check that my phone is the unlocked version? And if it is unlocked, any idea why haven't I received the update yet?

Nothing to do with whether or not it's locked. I take it it's a carrier branded model? If it's carrier branded, you'll have to wait for the carrier to release the update.

As BigHammer pointed out. HTC releases the software for testing by operators. Operators will test and give an OK for updates to go out. HTC will then schedule the update.

It doesn't matter what SIM you have on your phone, if it's "branded" (sold by an operator or a model usually sold by an operator) then you have to wait until this is completed by that operator.

Android 5.0 has not been approved yet in New Zealand so you won't receive it unless you change your phone ROM to something else - and risk getting it bricked in the process.
