I'm new to Android and am wanting to root my new Xperia Z2 which is currently running Lollipop.

I have seen a few guides around that seem to point to downgrading to KitKat first and then flashing a pre-rooted Lollipop however all of the pre-rooted firmwares are from different regions like UK.

Does this matter? Do I need a pre-rooted firmware for NZ? Am I going about this the completely wrong way and/or this just isn't actually possible?
