So I went on a road trip this past weekend to Rotorua, and on the way back we were going to stop in at Te Rapa (Hamilton) to see some friends. So I activated Android Auto, selected to use Google Maps, and off we went.... was working fine until I realized that I had gone a different way to what Google was advising (i had speech turned off), and figured "it'll re-route" - but it didn't. For some reason, Google insisted I had to use their way to get there and refused to re-route. I got to our destination going the way I roughly knew.

Anyone else come across this lately ?

Bung: Was their way the only one that satisfied the preferences you had eg no highways or toll routes?

Edit: Did you have mobile coverage at the time?

Only option I have set is no tolls.

And wasn't using data, never do and never have previously and never had this issue.

Is the map area between Rotorua and Hamilton available as an offline map in your Google Maps? If the maps weren't available offline, and data wasn't available, then the map application won't know about the roads to re-route you.
