It looks like Samsung have recently started to push out a larger number of ICS upgrades. They released the Open Europe (XEU) firmware in the last 48 hours, which is possibly the firmware that your phone is using.

The first official ICS upgrades started rolling out at the end of March. I think that Poland (XEO) was one of the earliest releases, and they've had a re-release since then. There are a bunch of carrier-branded releases that are expected to arrive shortly, including Vodafone's.

That being said, SGS2 owners have been playing with ICS for a couple of months now. There have been numerous leaked releases that we've been installing and using. Have a look a the main SGS2 owners' thread if you want to see what we've all been up to.

By the way, don't expect to see too many changes in stock ICS. Much of the visible stuff is the same is it always was. The most obvious changes are in the settings menu, the browser and the GMail app. The only other big cool thing is that you can use the Chrome Beta browser, or replace your app launcher with one of the excellent alternatives (such as Apex, Nova or Trebuchet).

The only thing I can't seem to ge to work is when a SMS is received in V2.3.3 when driving mode was set to on it would read the name of the sender from the contacts or just read out the number it was sent from .In ICS 4.0.3 I can't get this to go. It works OK on incoming voice calls and GPS.

Any ideas anyone who has updated. Mine is the Telecom version..

Regards,

Old3eyes

Here's information from SamMobile about the NZ releases:

Vodafone
Date: 2012-04-23
Version: I9100XWLP7
CSC: I9100VNZLP2

Telecom
Date: 2012-04-09
Version: I9100TDOLP5
CSC: I9100TTNZLP3

It looks like the Vodafone version uses the same XWLP7 base that's been widely-released in Europe. Samsung must be happy with how it's running if they're using it this widely. Don't know what's different (if anything) with DOLP5 though.

Anyone managed to upgrade using the Mac version of Kies rather than the PC version?

I had to boot into windows to update mine - Mac Kies tells me that it doesnt support my phone (despite it being Samsung's current flagship phone!).

I know that Mac Kies doesn't support the Telecom XT model. I was hoping it atleast supported the Vodafone version as it i supposed to work with the Galaxy SII

Surely Samsung's flagship phone would be either the note or the S3
