Hey guys! Just letting you know about a competition from HTC New Zealand themselves...
One lucky Kiwi will win an HTC one x a week. http://goo.gl/TbQ0q

(Note; this is a Facebook referral competition)

Simple :)

It is indeed a competition to get the most hits on your referral

Why oh why did it have to be a Facebook competition?

Sometimes I consider creating a Facebook account. But then I think of their numerous privacy issues over the years, the time-wasting and info-sucking apps, getting friend requests from people I have no desire to talk to ever again... It's just not worth the effort. Even if I could win a sweet phone.

If we are doing the referral thing, would anyone be interested in helping me out with the link in my signature.

edit: it's not really a referral more of a log in and vote for me thing

I had some time to kill a year or three back and set up a Facebook account under an assumed name with fake details. Now I just ignore any friend requests to it, and use it for anything that requires facebook access. Next time I'm bored, I'll see if I can use the fake facebook account as verification for a fake Google+ account...

The problem will be when you actually win something and you need identification to prove you're you.

That's not actually an issue. The competition requires you to shill HTC to as many friends as you can. Therefore those of us who don't have 9000 FB friends can't win.

Oh I see, I can't actually win unless I refer the most people to the competition in a week.
Unliked, sorry.

Congratulations! Can I have your old phone? Please? Smile

ETA - how'd you craft the link so that HTC knew it was people clicking from your post thru to FB?

haha - A couple of friends have already asked... I have used android before but I want to see what the battery is like compared with a 1yo iPhone4. I hear it's not amazing but I do know it takes a few cycles to get any battery up to use and most people who get a smartphone are constantly on it for the first month. When you enter the competition they give you a link, that link is just a simple referral link to the facebook app. So all I did was go to a URL shortener and input the full link :)
