Hello, I went in to buy a Galaxy SII on Friday but was told the III was announced that very day.

Just need to know what your thoughts are on the price of the 2 coming down. Is it worth the wait for a few weeks or still get one now?

Thanks people, great forum!

SGS II has already dropped in price and in recent weeks and plenty of retailers have been throwing in a free TV. Speculation has it the SGS III will hit with a ~$999 pricetag so that makes it around $250 more than the SGS II is now.

My gut feel is that the current price of the SII will already be significantly cheaper than the SIII so there will not be too much demand to further discount far, no doubt the major telco's will drop their pricing and VF already have peeled a hundy off but the parallel imported market is already significantly lower

I would look at the S1 and its pricing v the S2 when it arrived and where it is now as a guide

Yeah I'm expecting a $999 price tag too. Really good that NZ has seen the launch of this, and the One-X almost to the day of the international releases!

Shows that HTC, and Samsung are taking notice of our small country for once

Or they have decent distribution channels/have the capability to produce enough units for demand.

If you're in the market for buying a brand new GSII, the best place to buy it will be bond+bond this coming sunday. 1 day only though.

Sorry, not allowed to share that info. But it's for that one day only, and 1 per customer too.

the s2 was briefly $640 @ the warehouse 1-2 months ago, I would hope it would be on special for $500-550, but can't see that happening given the current price at bond n bond being $800.

That's a pretty awesome price. If I wasn't in love with the Note I would be jumping on that deal.
