For those people who read their phone or tablet in a dark room this app is great, it reduces the brightness of your screen below what the system can do by itself.

Will this have an effect on battery life? I have just recently picked up a Galaxy Note and was suprised that the minimum brightness is still quite bright

For some screen types going below stock minimum screen brightness it may actually decrease battery life slightly. It uses some kind of screen filter, which takes processing power. For the newest screen types it will probably decrease power usage.
