Just wondering what audio book player other folk are using?

I'm using Smart AudioBook Player but there might be a no brainer out there.

I like to have 2 or 3 different books on the go at once so it's gotta be able to remember my place on multiple books.

I'm enjoying Smart AudioBook Player and if there's nothing better out there, I'll probably purchase the pro version after the 30 day trial.

Try MortPlayer Audio Books. It also has a separate widget.

I've been using Akimbo for over a year after trying a few and while not perfect it definitely set the bar high. I've got to say though, I've found the Smart AudioBook Player to be pretty good. I'm especially a fan of the movement activate auto sleep - quite a nifty feature - and I also like the notification area controls (Akimbo has none).

My only gripes with Akimbo are occasionally stuffed up ID3 tags and once a week or so it'll lose the book (but not my playback position once reloaded). Of course, I frequently flash different roms so I can't really say it's the player's fault (but suspect it is). Still, after 17 months it was what I most preferred.

Thanks I had a play with Akimbo and it looks to be rock solid, I especially like the end of chapter sleep function.

Yeah the notification area controls for Smart AudioBook Player are great, I like that they are accessible via the lock screen.

I'll keep mucking around with all 3 players in the mean time, and see how they compare.

BTW if you're interested in non-fiction audio books I recommend "The Forgotten Highlander" by Alistair Urquhart, read by Nick McArdle.

It's about Singapore during WW2, the Death Railway and the bridge over the River Kwai.

I'm now doing the same. :)
I'll give the other two a week or so each, but Akimbo's position as my audio book reader is seriously under threat. I already prefer Smart AudioBook Player but haven't yet tried MortPlayer.

I've also tried Doggcatcher, but I couldn't easily import books so wrote that one off.

I agree, Smart AudioBook Player ticks most of the boxes for me too and $2 seems entirely reasonable for the pro version.

I flicked the bloke an email and asked him to add the "end of chapter" option to the sleep menu, he replied almost straight away and said he'd think about it.

+1 for Smart audiobook player. I tried a number of different apps before settling on it as my default player.
The developer gives outstanding support and as previously stated is very quick to reply to questions. I wish all apps were so well looked after.

I've given it a thrashing the last few days and it hasn't missed a beat, very pleased. Didn't bother waiting for the 30 day trial and purchased the pro version today, turned out to be $2.43 - worth every cent I reckon.

You beat me. I paid $2.49 a couple of days ago. I don't even have Akimbo or mortplayer on my phone now. :)

Sure. Audible is good, in fact their app is excellent and they have a huge library (I have 61 books according to the app on my phone and a platinum membership) but you cannot import books from 3rd party sources into the app. I got into audiobooks via Podiobooks a couple of years ago and now have over a hundred or those so having a good audiobook player is pretty important.
