Couldn't you use a tv tuner in your pc and stream via splashtop this is the method i use for stream tvnz, tv3 on demand and isky. Bit data hungry so only over wifi.

If you have the right kind of TV card (Hauppauge) you can use TVextend to stream to your droid/ipad or via the web to another PC

On-Demand works fine via the web browser if you're happy watching yesterdays shows.

Thank you for your replies.

This whole thing peaked my interest when the new SlingBox 350/500 were introduced.

I was looking for something which I could hang off a Freeview box, but thought I'd 'tick' off my existing 'always on' boxes before looking into any other connection options.

I'm glad I did. My QNAP TS-112 NAS can support a USB TV stick that'll provide TV recording(NAS) and streaming to my Android Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10i or any other network'd device.
The Android app side of things is covered with TVHGuide based on EPG listing.

My phone is a bit under power'd processing wise(even though I've uber tool-time'd it) and I'm looking at ways/methods to reduce the HD quality channels(TV1, TV2 and TV3) down to something akin to SD quality.
SD Quality TV streams and is very watch-able on a 4" screen with really good quality and great colour.
Maybe it was the angle I was viewing, but in the dark in bed and maybe only using 1½ eyes(viewing obscured by pillow) it almost looked like it was in 3D. The depth and colour was quite impressive.

As a starting point this somewhat bespoke streaming approach works well for my phone, but thought it prudent to see what approach other people were using to achieve the same thing.

The Belkin @TV looks like an interesting approach, although the current Android app for it costs a few extra dollars on top of that already paid for the Belkin @TV box.

I've got a dedicated MediaCentre PC running 7MC. I'm using DVBLink from DVBLogic which supports upto 8 tuners. I've also got 2 dual DVB-T cards which DVBLink can stream via DLNA. I have tested this both on an iPad and Android (DVBLink has native apps for these) and works flawlessly. You can also use a web browser to watch all your TV.
