Hi all,

any opinions out there as to what is better, i am confused around the offering by Norton, (i do however have Norton on my PC at home) thus i am currently running AVG, but i also noticed today avast is very highly rated.

looking to compare them...

used all of those, but now days i just use microsofts security essentials (or whatever its callled now)

I use Avast, no problems with it at all, runs quietly in the background, don't even know it's there.

Still not seen one iota of convincing evidence that Android devices require anti-virus software. Main people likely to be affected are people installing warez, and frankly I think they deserve whatever is coming to them.

out of the three i mentioned i was looking at which would you recomend, based on number of features, size, UI, stability, trustworthy and battery drain.

Why are all the replies talking about Anti-virus for Windows?
The Forum topic clearly states 'Anti-Virus for Android devices?'.
There does appear to be a lack of the word 'Android' in the main post, however.

Haven't really used any Anti-virus product on Android so far, so can't help you, sorry.

EDIT: OK, perhaps just reven's reply. All the others have an "Android" version, as far as I know. ;)

thank you, Avast seems pretty highly rated, but AVG comes close I think it is .2 or .3 out. i like AVG thus far based on features, UI, stability, memory, battery drain, trustworthy etc, but i was only comparing it to Norton when i got it and they just had so many it made it confusing, much like thier PC packages, i got what i got with my PC based on an offer from the shop, so AVG seemed like a good option, but now i have seen Avast.

how much memory does Avast take up on the phone as i assume to run the widget you need it on the phone and not the SD card.

with AVG on the SD card and not using the widget, it takes about 3.5MB of phone memory, moving to the phone to use the widget increases this to about 7.5MB on the phone, obviously 4MB is roughly how much can be moved to the SD card.

I use Norton Multi device on my androids mainly for the anti-theft features rather than the anti-virus / internet security side of things.

Have tried several Where's my droid, Trend Micro, Cerberus etc. Norton is the most expensive but it is the nicest I've used.

Currently have 5 devices loaded (Nexus 4, HTC Sensation, SGSII, SG Note, SG Tab 10.1") and tracks all of them nicely

I use Lookout which offers free and paid versons, also locates missing device (it happens) and backs up data. Afetr using it for ten years, I have no reason to even consider replacing it.
