I have SGS2 with swype 1.3.6.10405 that came with a stock jelly bean rom ...

But I am unable to add any words to dictionary!

Any suggestions? Use another version? I do not want to use swiftkey or others just swype thanks.

Also I think that may have been a common issue before 1.4 but I never experienced it myself

ok this is weird I now have 3 swypes

Swype 1.3
Swype beta 1.4
Swype 3.6 beta Titanium backup

select beta 1.4 and all the "words" I have used have all magically appeared in the phone's dictionary!

have deleted swype 1.3 and about to remove the 3.6 beta backup

thanks!

I've always preferred beta over the official.  Not sure how they work out their numbering system though?!
My assumption is that the official ones are created for manufacturers to include in phone releases but are not kept up to date.  The beta versions are constantly being improved upon and are first to see new features.

If you open the web browser to type in a URL, the .com button appears. Well it does in Chrome anyway.

One feature I have noticed recently but have no idea how long it's been there, is the ability to delete any word from the dictionary by holding it down when it appears in the option list of similar words. There were so many words that Swype would bring up instead of my intended word that I can now delete.
