as far as I know Samsung haven't released  an official version of 4.2 yet, there is a leaked version 'FMB3' around but pretty buggy from all accounts

I'd been using 4.2 custom ROM's for months on my S3 (before reverting to stock in case sds hits me and it wasn't the unstable rom causing issues...) and found them pretty reliable. One or two weren't, obviously, but surely Samsung's official version would be in a better state...?

Weird. Did I not post saying that I hadn't managed to get the update yet? I got 4.1.2 as soon as I set up my (new) S3. I'm on I9300XXELLA, which I gather is the older 4.1.2 update?

When I try to check for updates now I get an error "Access to the software update service is provided to users in the order in which they request it. Try later."

I'm not in a real hurry, my main focus was getting to 4.1.2 (to protect myself from SDS?). I assume this error means they're busy, so I can wait for it to roll out to me.

I see that from above, but aren't other people being offered it OTA? I don't mind waiting. As far as sudden death goes, my chip is identified as VTU00M, 0xf7 which means I'm OK, right?

Has anybody with a S3 2 degrees phone with a XT sim having any problems after the update? I charged my battery last night and the phone quite warm this morning. Didn't take any notice until about 2 hrs later when the phone was still warm. Had a check and found that I had only 45% battery left. Only had one program running which doesn't cause that much of problem. Anyway, I have reset the phone and going to try it out again.

Any details on it?

I'm hoping the next Nexus is good. Manufacturer releases are a joke.

I'm running 4.3 unofficial CM 10.2 on my I9300. Few bugs but overall very nice. And no Samsung bloatware
