Android Police has uncovered evidence of android 4.3 in the works, most likely to be announced at I/O next month.

Now I have an Xperia Z which was promised android 4.2.2 last month and i'm thinking now that maybe thats been delayed in favor of 4.3. Its a long shot but it would be nice

In the files Android Police discovered Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 were found so expect 4.3 for those devices shortly after I/O

There is next to no chance whatsoever that your device would skip 4.2.2 in favour of 4.3. I'd be extremely surprised if 4.3 was out right after IO Google have a SLOW release schedule.

To the OP: I think that very unlikely indeed. Sony's updates record is terrible, the promised 4.2.2 update being delayed is much more likely to be yet another broken updates promise from Sony.

I am aware and I'm more interested in reporting that I/O will be launching 4.3 NOT 5.0

It was a vague hope something forums across the interwebs are far to keen to shoot me down about

From what i've seen Sony has been better than any other manufacturer at updating their non top end devices over the past year? Other manufacturers seem to release in the low to mid range and never update.

Do you know about Xperia S? It is used to be the top-end Sony device before Xperia Z and still has NO update whatsoever.

The wierdest thing is that a bunch of mid range Sony'y got updates this week, I don't know what they are up to.

Sony is better than back in the Xperia X10 days, they co-operate with Devs and the Xperia Z even has a supported AOSP 4.2 delivered by Sony so thats a step better than what they used to be like unfortunately they do not keep to dates, So the Xperia S will apparently get JB in late May but ill believe it when I see it.

I would like see Sony up the support for my phone, which is why recent events by Sony got me thinking that we might go straight to 4.3 and I'll believe it until proven otherwise.

And yes I exist on multiple forums, Been on XDA for ages so i often post stuff their first but then i saw no thread about 4.3 here I decided to share

Sony has terrible support for all it's products, simple as that, average laptop repair time is about 9 days. They have next to no driver support for many of their models and their support desk is hopeless. I love some of their products like cameras and even the Z series, but if you want support or updates, forget about it.

Im not so sure I agree with you their, I have a Sony Laptop from 2010, EB35FG, theirs support for all the drivers etc, I have a Sony Tv and I've updated the firmware via USB direct from Sony's website.

Repair time is not a sign of bad support at all, more an indication of how busy the repair agent is. At Dick Smith we quote 10-15 working days for all product and the turn around for Apple products is about 14 days so 9 is good.

Yes the X10 was a bad start for Sony in terms of keeping up to date. but my Arc received it's ICS update on time and with 2 base-band upgrades after the initial. I missed the 2012 cycle of phones because I went to Gnex but I'm not so ready to write Sony off just yet, yes they are late on the 4.2 but they have released 4.2 AOSP, something Samsung, LG or HTC have not done. If anything thats an indication as to how forward thinking and transparent Sony is becoming / wants to be.

Yes I'm dreaming to think the Sony Z will get 4.3 shortly after I/O but they are not some monstrous company in terms of updates, Their are still S3's out their without 4.2 and HTC is pretty slow on their updates and transparency to devlopment (S-Off) the only company you can actually herald is ASUS who are still releasing updates for the TF100 and the TF200
