I am looking for a dual sim, large HD display phone and have had no luck finding anything suitable through regular phone retailers or parallel importers other than the Samsung Grand which only has an 800 x 480 display which is a bit of a stretch on a 5 inch screen, especially for e-book reading.

There are plenty of Chinese imports listed on Trade Me and I am considering the THL W8 having read favorable reviews from around the world.  Has anyone had any experience with THL? I intend using a 2 Degrees sim for data and Vodafone for calls.  The seller assures me the phone works on both 900MHz and 2100MHz 3G frequencies.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure if this is the official site but doesn't look like 3G will work for you outside major centres in NZ

Copy/Paste from above site:
Support Network:Quad-band SIM1/SIM2/GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900MHz),SIM1/3G(850/2100)

Seems to be the case for most of those phone available from Pandawill as per this thread.

Thanks for your response, after further investigations it seems none of these Chinese phones support 900MHz 3G so not much use for data outside main centres.  Looks kike the Samsung Galaxy Grand is the only option for dual sim with 5" display in NZ
