Ok, so I have a Galaxy SIII Mini, and I cant help myself from using it, but at the same time in constant fear of accidental damage or scratching.

How resistant is the screen.

Screen protector's pro's and con's.

Wallet style case vs. the shell type that only covers the back vs none.

In the past with my old phone I had the rubber case that fitted to the back and a screen protector on the front, but the screen (or at least the protector anyway) did not take long to develop a scratch or worn patch, hence why I am considering the wallet style case, as most of my issue was probbably not from use but from going in and out of pockets etc.

Uhm, don't stab it with sharp objects or smash it against hard objects and you'll be fine? Honestly the only case or cover I've ever actually liked (and use) is the S View Cover, but I'm not sure if they're available for the S3 Mini

That gorilla glass is tough. But I did add a back shell to mine simply to make it less slippery while in pocket and hand.

4 threads for your S3, may be easier to start an owners thread otherwise you may have a lot of threads to follow

I drop kicked my note 2 across a tile floor and it skated across on its face at about 50kmh before hitting the wall on the other side. All I have to show for it is two light scratches diagonally across the screen which can be seen only with the screen off and held up to the light to see the reflection. I now have the genuine Samsung flip cover which I like as it keeps the screen clean.

Pretty sure the SIII Mini doesn't have Gorilla Glass.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Hi all,

What I was getting at was that my last phone I had the rubber case that the phone sat in that simply covered the back and sides of the phone leaving the screen exposed.

This made the phone very easy to hold and use, as well as a nice bit of extra protection, and I added a screen protector to this for a little extra protection on the screen. And I did not have any user issues, but I think the screen protectors scratch a little easier than the screen itself, and to remedy all I would have to do is replace the screen protector.

Now I have seen the wallet or flip style case, and I really like the idea of the extra protection it offers, but my questions is, how easy or difficult is the phone to use when in one of these such cases. Such as taking and making calls, texting, and fitting in pocket or something.

obviously its bulkier but I'm sure you would get used to it, its just a trade off personally I don't use either a case or screen protector.

Everyone has their own opinion which may not fit your requirements so given you can pick up real cheap cases off ebay or aliexpress just get a cheapie and try it out. failing all that just make sure your personal effects insurance covers your phone and forget about it.

I have a dual layer Incpio case for my S4, it protrudes a little so I can sit it face down if I want to. I won't bother with a screen protector as it has gorilla glass, but the S3 mini doesn't (S4 mini does).

I had a case for my S3 and screen protector. I decide the extra bulk wasn't worth it, so got rid of the case. I'm pretty careful so no worries (so far!). I'm pretty tempted to get rid of the screen protector too, it's just a little annoying.

I had my old phone (cheap ol' ideos) for two years with no protection and next to no damage.

You can also get phone insurance. I got mine for $15/month through Telecom as I bought my phone through them, it's cheaper with cheaper phones. I'll probably drop my insurance some time, I figured I'd get it for the first few months of owning a smart phone, after that I'd just self insure.
