I have Windows 8.1 and my Galaxy S4 Supports WiFi Direct.

Is there a way to connect the wifi adapter on my PC to the Galaxy S4 via WiFi Direct?

Wi-Fi Direct as a protocol is still in its infancy I've found

Wi-Fi Direct as a protocol is still in its infancy I've found

Just files etc. Typically larger files like ROM's.

It's been around since the Galaxy S2.

You need an "app" that has the required functionality. Basically from windows 8 just do 'add a device', then you can use Play To, or some file transfer app.

I don't think (unless it has changed) windows 8 can act as a receiver for android devices. Not sure the reason why - could be that feature requires a newer version of android (i.e. android may be the culprit).

For windows to windows you can use proximity or tap-n-go (again with the appropriate app).

If you have Wi-Fi Direct enabled on your windows device, doing an IPConfig /all from a command prompt should show the Wi-Fi direct virtual adaptor enabled.

Not sure if the Android device will show up in Windows explorer if you browse that way - since I don't use android I cant check.
