Any idea of when we will get it? I want to also root my phone cause I want it now. Any tips for a first time user? What will and won't work? I am with spark, too.
thre is a bit of work being done on the I9506 on XDA so follow the link and have a read, Samsung phones are pretty easy to flash with a Custom Rom but you need to read up on it.
Lollipop (5.0) is available in both Samsung Roms and also AOSP with Cyanogen available but you need to read up.
I am running 5.0.2 on my i9506 at the moment (CM12 based rom by arter97 and his kernel), no real issues and good battery life. There is a custom 5.1 ROM (CM12.1) out as well but it is still a bit buggy.
As for Samsung ROMs, they have started rolling out official 5.0.1 TW ROMs, just nothing for NZ yet, the closest would be the Nordic ROM which should work 99% (most custom ROMs are based on the Nordic version), maybe just missing HD Voice. But it does mean we should see official update in the next month or so.
