I'm looking for a replacement Twitter app and hoping someone here has already done the hard yards in finding one.

My top annoyance is that I can only have 4-6 hours worth in my timeline on my phone, much less than the Twitter website provides. 24 hours would be nice.

Ideally when I open the app it should start where I left off, instead I frequently find it flicks me to the most recent tweet so then I have to scroll through everything in reverse order.

Prepared to pay for an app if it does what I want.

In the meantime I'll work my way through some of the alternatives, there's a lot of "best alternatives" lists but I don't see any app specifically addressing these issues.

I have been using Tweetings.

It's the best one I have found. It has tweet marker support so it will stay where you left it. Although I think its default number of loaded tweets is a bit on the low side but you can change this in the settings.

I use Plume on my N5X, it handles both of your requirements :)

Plume or Tweetcaster are fine. Free versions of both apps have a banner @ the bottom of the page.

I highly recommend Talon - it has all the features that you're looking for, @lurker. The best part is that not only does it remember your position in the timeline, it automatically syncs across all devices - even if you delete and re-install the app! Also, in my current setting, my timeline goes back upto two days - but you can increase this limit from the settings.

It's also themeable, with an automatic dark mode/night mode which is easy on the eyes, and also an AMOLED black mode to save battery on AMOLED displays. Well worth the $4.79 (NZ) IMHO.

+1 on this.  Easily the best Twitter app I have used.

I used Plume for a long time but it's always been a buggy app that's never supported all the features.

Right now I've been using Gravity since it was released and while it's very nice there are aspects I don't like.

Thanks for the suggestions, I went with Talon in the end. All good.
