I have a 2 deg Galaxy S5 G900F. Couple nights ago it did another update that took around an hour.  Since then screen rotation wont work and when you press home button it wont go home but open random apps.  I have tried wiping cache and factory reset to no avail.  Have looked on internet and only rom downloads I can find they either want money or 12 plus hours to download. Also don't know if they really are genuine. I cant find any on Samsung official site.  Even now if I turn phone then restart it stays on black screen with Samsung in white and blue LED for around 10 minutes before it will restart.  Tried all I can on internet to no avail

Download your correct ROM from sammobile.com and flash it with ODIN on your computer. Instructions are one that website. It is a reputable site.

thanks. bit the bullet and doing it. yet another place with my details. 12 hours to download.  Might just get another phone.  Just wish Windows Phone was viable. I loved Windows Phone until companies pulled their apps from it. So leaves Android or Apple

That's a worry as I use an S5. It's on Skinny/Spark network, though, if that makes a difference

I never realized how common and widespread the screen rotation not working was until I googled.  All my problems started with the update the other night so that's why I suspect software corrupt. Done 5 factory resets and doing different settings and loading apps all to no avail. After 6 hours downloading the firmware update from Samsungmobile referenced above, I have 35% and 10 hours to go.

had to give up downloading. Wanted 40% after 7 hours and another 12 to go it says now. Give that idea up. Still haven't received email from Samsungmobile after registering to get any further. So think the S5 is destined for the dump. Cant sell and cant in good conscious give away when faulty. Just not something I do. Maybe have to go to dark side and get IPhone but then again TV news and NZ Herald said Apple cutting support for some. Just have to do without phone until find something I like.
