Thinking of using the 2degrees interest free deal to get one. Does anyone have any experience with this model or other Oppo models? Or would I be the first person on GZ to get one, meaning I would be the literal "guinea pig". Any gotchas such as unremovable (without root) bloatware?

I am already a 2deg pay monthly customer, so no disadvantages to me for taking up their interest free offer, but I can pay cash if needed. As for pricing, does anywhere apart from 2deg and JB Hifi sell them? Although buying direct from 2deg would hopefully mean better CGA cover than buying from a parallel importer.

Current phone is a Sammy S4 mini, with a worn out battery and running slow due to software bloat. So almost anything will be an improvement.

Personally I wouldn't given that the OS that ships by default, colorOS, is still based on Android 5.1. In all due respects you're better off going for an Android device like a HTC 11, Galaxy S8 or a Pixel.

The R11 comes with coloros 3.1 which is apparently based on Android 7.1. Is this confusion based on an avoidance of number 4?

Then that makes the situation even worse because they haven't updated their website yet given that their colorOS is still advertising 3.0 as the latest version available. Doesn't make for a good experience when they can't get even the small things correct.

Just received this one today... The FC Barcelona version - pretty cool and I have to say I like the colours.

I've just found that my Oppo R9s will not allow an alternative messaging to run.

I installed Textra for the big fonts but every time a message is received, the phone reverts to the default messaging app. According to various posts online, this is by design.

Next stop is Noel Leeming to give the phone back.

I wouldn't recommend an Oppo phone. I bought my partner an A57 for the dual sim. It's running ColorOS 3.0.0i based on 6.0.1. Had it since September and it's never had an update of any description, the security patch is dated March 2017. Can't load a 3rd party SMS app as already stated. As none of this actually bothers her and the dual sim capability is useful, we kept it. I'd certainly never buy one for myself.
