Over the last week I have been getting adverts on the opening screen of my cellphone. The adverts are always for Brew Bar on Quay Street.
The fill the whole screen when I unlock the phones to use and I have to close advert to use phone. I am guessing that the advert is coming from an app but no ideas which one. Phone is Android. Any ideas how to get rid of it
Thanks

When I have had this happen in the past, it was from some IR remote software that came on my phone that then updated to a play store version with ads in it. Using the app switch button when the ad was showing revealed the app at fault.

I had almost exact same happen to me about a year ago on my S8, fortunately Google helped me fix it.

Open playstore and goto My Apps and Games, then select Installed, and finally reorder by Last Upated.

Now you should be looking at the apps on your phone that have been installed or recently updated.

Try to recall when you first noticed the ads appear and try deleting apps that were updated or installed at that time.

For me, it was an APK extractor app that had been updated. I deleted the app, problem never re-occured.

Also the recent reviews on that app will probably point out which one it is. Dont forget to give it an angry 1 star when you find it to help others out.

Unfortunately Google had updated around 20 apps in last few days so dates didn't help. The only recent app I can remember is Tic Tok don't think that has adverts

I think the best suggestion is the first one: use the Recent Apps button to show which one is running last.

Select Adverts, and popups. Will list the likely culprits.

Wifi Analyzer recently did this. no local time restrain. No headsup. Meant alerts at 3am and the likes. And got a bunch of hate.

Thanks everyone for helpful suggestions. As suggested it appears to be barcode scanner. Have deleted and hopefully all solved. Will give it a couple of days and will then confirm

I think that one of the ad providers for a number of apps appears to have gone rogue. Lots of complaints lately.

Another suggestion is to turn off auto start for badly behaved apps - that is if you really want to keep the app.

No spam for two days so I am happy to put blame on barcode scanner. I will now have to find an alternate scanner and if necessary will pay.
