If you have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, and iPhone 13 Pro Max both bought in NZ,

Which of these USA mobile provider sim card would you buy -

AT&T, T Mobile, Verizon?

Thanks

AT&T have the best coverage, but generally speaking coverage holes in any network only occur in the desert/mountains. I used an AT&T sim on my last trip (mainly because my phone at the time was a refurbed AT&T branded phone) and was happy with it.

Some years ago I got an AT&T SIM in my phone, when we were there for a month. This was the first time I had got a SIM outside NZ. I made it clear I wanted only one month's service and paid with my credit card. Big mistake on my part - it wasn't a prepaid arrangement and they kept charging me every month.

There was no way to stop this and no way to contact them once I was back in NZ. Talked to my bank and they couldn't do anything. The only way to stop it was to cancel that credit card (my main one) and get a new one - involving a massive amount of reorganisation work.

Not blaming AT&T  - it was my own silly fault. Learned a lot from that. I have subsequently got SIMs in the US and Europe many times - but now always a prepaid arrangement and I pay cash. We're going to the US next week and I'll be doing the same again.

Yeah, nah - not really. Mainly my fault for not thinking it through properly at the time. If you only want one month's service, don't sign up with a credit card for a rolling service. If I lived in the US, I probably could have contacted them or gone into a store to sort it out - but not from here.
