Search for "nexus" on Trademe and you'll see (as of 16:30 on Monday) five Nexus One phones for sale, ranging in price between $1150 and $1500 (Buy Now prices).

(None are mine and I don't know the vendors)

Ouch, why so much? $784 from Google to Shipito to NZ 2-5 days arrival, quite a bit of a profit those guys are making

This meme about sales being poor is an interesting one. The Nexus One has been soft-launched with little more than a rumour launch. All the tech-aware media have made a fuss and this has spilled over into news media, but there has been no advertising through newspapers, radio or TV......whereas the Pre and the iPhones have had all of these.

vinnieg: Can you explain why you bought into this idea that these things can be compared as though they are in any way equivalent? I'm fascinated that people lap this stuff up apparently uncritically and I want to better understand how it happens. It doesn't just happen in tech matters. I see this sort of thing happening in all areas of life: baseless - essentially  propaganda - being spread around without any regard for whether or not it makes any sense at all.

In this case, it makes no sense to compare a web-only launch to the android choir with either a heavily promoted new model from the established market leader or the heavily promoted primary offering from Palm.

The plan was to put 4 of them on trademe and keep one for myself, the profits would end up paying for the phone completely... However.. I've fallen in love with my nexus and I don't want to risk buying another one that isn't perfect :) It's still on trademe though, I upped the price just cos I don't really really want to sell it XD
