After being unable to get MMS receiving to work with XT on my Hero, I've got a modified version of the HTC Eris 2.1 firmware on it now, and I've got settings which finally work (1.5 was a no-go). Odds are I'll rarely if ever use it (could always send ok, it was receiving that failed).
Anyone else with an Android 2.1 device on XT, the settings that worked are;
Name: Telecom (Only APN, primary and MMS)
APN: wap.telecom.co.nz (should probably use internet.telecom.co.nz)

Username: Blank
Password: Blank

Everything works happily now.
