So I'm looking for a new phone and was wondering if this phone could work on Vodafone network (in 3G mode of course).
Is this possible?

No, this is a CDMA model, and works only on Sprint.

Just get an hd2, mostly the same specs and I assume someone over at XDA will port over android so it will be virtually the same device Cool

There's no Android for the HD2. "I assume [someone over at XDA will port]" bears no warranty at all. Buying a device expecting some unknown person one day may port a different OS to it...

Agree with the supreme bean, while some progress has been made a stable Android port is a long way off, and there is no gaurantee. Its not that close to being the same specs either (former HD2 owner here).

If you want high end Android then your best choice currently would be the Nexus One, Desire, or in 10 days or so the Galaxy S.

Apparently David Wang has almost everything working in Android on the iPhone 3G.....and just needs to sort out the power management. At the moment the device goes flat stick for two-three hours and the battery runs out of puff. :-)

For sheer coolness dual-booting iPhone OS and Android has to be a winner. If there was a region of shared disc, you could boot to Android, copy the files you need to the phone, then boot back to iPhone and actually use them without needing iTunes as the filter. ;-)

androids running pretty well on my touch pro 2, it took a while but it got there. Wanting the htc evo would imply that the person is more interested in hardware rather than software.
The nexus one has been avaliable for months with the same snapdragon inside of it and rockin froyo on it is all kinds of awesome, so why not go for that.
The only difference is the screen which must be of interest and I suggested the hd2 accordingly. Also a linux kernal has been shown running on an hd2 :)
