G'day all. Noob on these boards, so be gentle.

Just a quick question about the status of the Samsung Galaxy S Pro slider. Owing to some unfortunate resistance/capacitance/juju effect my body seems stuck with, on-screen keyboards don't work well fo me but I'd like to move into the current SOTA smartphone universe (thought 'galaxy' might be too punny).

The Galaxy S seems to be a fine phone in its own right so I'm guessing that functionality will be identical in the Pro version but with the slide-out qwerty kb. I'll be happy with a little more porkiness to get slider.

Anybody know:
1: If it's suitable for use on VF
2: Where to buy offshore since we seem to get phones so late here
3: A rule of thumb as to when its unlocked version will appear following carrier availability

I believe it'll be a bit more expensive than most due to having 4G capability, so I'm ready for that if it reviews OK, but it's more about a physical keyboard really.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Cheers.

Galaxy S Pro looks good but:

1. No, CDMA 4G network only sorry
2. Amazon.com
3. It'll be locked for a while, to Sprint

I found touchscreens hard to use and a pain due to my fingers :( but the Galaxy S seems much easier than old phones, maybe find one and have a play with it?

I have moved across the ditch.  Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

Ta for the swift response.

Bummer about not being a VF compatible unit. Grrrr... That renders the other questions moot I guess.

So, where would you suggest that I might find a Galaxy S to fondle? Is there a local (Jaffaville) parallel importer who might have stock of such a beast?

Thx in advance.

So yet another question.

The Galaxy S is available locally through a company called Paralleled. Does anyone have any experience of them that they're able to share, good or bad?

Not sure if the price for the 8GB version is right at $930 incl GST but I'll do some online snooping in other markets to see if that's a reasonable deal. Still like to get my hands on a demo unit to see how the kb thing pans out but that won't be through Paralleled as they're an online retailer only it seems.

Oh well, never thought it'd be easy anyway. :)

Gracias in advance amigos.
Buenos nochas.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll visit them and see if there's a working unit.

Have you any knowledge about the online co. Paralleled, by any chance?

Appreciate any info you can provide.

Cheers.
