Wow is all i can say even though I know I will never use this on my phone I have to say Winamp was my favourite all time music player back in the day. Ahhhh the memories are sifting back oh so slowly.

This is a long time ago though back when Napster was in it's original free form. So with this in mind I believe I am giving Winamp a well and truly deserved bump.

Cheers Dr D...

Lovely! A big fan of winamp here. Wonder if custom skins will be available though like in the original winamp.

DrD: WinAmp for Android now in Market

http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/10/20/winamp-for-android-arrives-to-the-android-market-features-lockscreen-widget-whips-llamas-ass-hands-on/

I already have several apps on my phone I can stream Shoutcast content on...and WinAmp on my Windows PC off-putting.

Winamp used to be simple and functional.

Those days are long gone.

I'll install it in an effort to be fair. Who knows, it might be really good.

Use the classic winamp skin not the bento one. How simple can it get from there?

I've installed this on my HTC Desire already and I'm in LOVE.

One of the settings allows you to control from the lock screen, much like the default Music player on Sense.

On a side-note, I notice that my music quite often stutters. Is this because the files are stored on the SD card, or is there something else I need to be checking?

I use FLACs at 900kb/s, stored on my SD card, it's something else.

The music should not stutter. Nexus One did not stutter...no matter where the music was.

Head to Androidforums lokhor, there is a very comprehensive guide in their Android Media subforum, replete with plenty of screendumps to show exactly what to do...

Like that I can enqueue tracks. Annoyed me on the default player that I would have to create a a play list rather than just start a track and then add others to the currently playing queue like I did on my Zen. I only listen to podcasts on my Desire, so I prefer to be able to add shows to a queue after starting the first one.

Also can be added as a widget
+1 on the lock screen player being good.

Unfortunately, like every other Android music player I've tried, it puts a half-second gap between songs. Some of my albums have tracks that should flow into each other, but the gap is jarring when I listen on my Nexus One :(

mm, I'm not so concerned about the gap between songs (irritating yes, but not as bad as the issue I'm having at the moment). While I'm listening to music, it actually stutters every so often. I don't know what's causing it and it's annoying! :(
