Thought I would start off a specific topic on this phone - I have been using one for 6 weeks now - in NZ, USA, Korea, Thailand, Australia.

Some observations -
- Phone function quality works great -
- GPS is excellent - as is car mount / power cable that comes with it
- love the "Save Parking Spot" when you take it out of the car...
- bought the USA maps and the San Fran cityxplorer - worked well
- but distracted me from looking where I was going...
- love the "Goto" option - relevant for NZ for YellowPages and Menu Mania..

Downsides - pity is Android 1.6 - not sure how I find out when an upgrade is available...
- GPS seems to have an error on goto recently found - fails with
"process.com.garmin.android.apps.recentlyfound" has stopped unexpectedly and forced closed..
Tried to delete date and cache for this under manage apps - not wont allow me to...
(any suggestions ??)
- Background Data / Bandwidth... H'mmm
I am used to miserly Blackberry bandwidth usage
- on this trip took the iPad and Laptop and Garmin Asus A10 - so would have expected lower roaming chgs
Data Roaming charges for the Android Phone were much much much higher than I have experienced - at least 2-3 times higher that I would normally incur - and I did most of my internet work on the iPad... (which had a USA AT&T microSim 2GB - and I tried to use it all in 3 weeks and didnt get to more than 1GB....)
I was convinced that some of the apps use bandwidth - even where this is explicitly turned off
- see http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-11443111
- I wasnt using pushmail and did little browsing, but I suspect that location data was using bandwidth...
