Hello I am sorry if I have put this post in the wrong place

I have a Samsung galaxy 550 and have tried to do a firmware update on the ph from android 2.1 to 2.2 and at some stage have done something wrong and now my ph does not work I can only get a screen showing a pc and a ph with a broken usb as it is not plugged in to the pc

If anyone knows how I could reset it or reload something or even a place I could take it to be done

Thank you for your time

Regards

Luke

I'm not familiar with your particular phone.  Does it come with a "recovery" setting.  My phone has a 3 button recovery:  Volume UP + home button + Power button.  And to get into download mode, volume DOWN + home button + power.  Your phone may come with something similar.  Sometimes the screen you've described does indicate you have no option but to send it back to a service centre.  Did you have debugging on?  Maybe you can use ADB to get your phone into download mode and flash a rom via an alternative method.  What application did you use to do the firmware update?  If it was the official way and your phone still has a warranty period, then getting the service centre to fix it would be free.  But time consuming.

You might also find there's a thread on xda-developers for your phone and someone on there may have more advice/experience resolving the problem you've described.

Put this search phrase into Google.com and you'll come across something that might be useful:

Are these phones even capable of running 2.2? I have been told by a couple in the "IT" biz that they have been built for 2.1 and thats the best way to keep them.

Reading online there has been a whole heap of issues with those that have tried 2.2 on these. If it ain't broke don't fix it?

Unsure if it's true, but just a thought. Maybe try reloading 2.1?

Sorry for not using a proper link. I'm typing from my phone.

Step 4 explains the download method. Seems you can get 2.2 on your phone.
