Hey :)

I got my new motorola Milestone a couple of weeks back, and was very happy with it... that was until one of the guys at work whos with Vodafone got the update to froyo.... I couldn't settle for that so of course got on the net to get updated myself.

Everything went fine with rooting the phone, I downloaded the cyanogen mod and installed that too, which seemed to go through fine. All the software is on the phone and I got Gapps installed so have the marketplace..etc...  WiFi works perfect, but my problem is I have no signal. I checked with Telecom and I am registered on the tower, they also removed me from the network and I was able to re-establish a connection. When I was in the ChCh yesterday, occasionally I would get a couple of bars of signal, so was able to receive a few text messages. But now I am back in Ashburton I have 0 signal.
I know there are other people who have installed CM 6.1.1 so I am wondering if there is a fix available, or maybe I need to update my radio.... I have tried all the different settings and googled as much as I can.

Any advice would be much appreciated, even if it's just advice on another decent stable ROM that I can try flashing until CM get a stable one for the Milestone.

Thanks again :)
Derek.

This is exactly why i stopped and thought, hmmm this froyo stuff might not work with all the frequencies avaliable in nz.

You will probably find its not working with the frequencies used in ashburton, but in christchurch where maybe some of the 2ghz towers are, you were able to connect.

I am highly interested if you do get it going.
I really want to be able to get froyo on mine so i can install apps to the sd card - ive run out of memory on the phone itself.

Motorola have confirmed a froyo update for the milestone in the first quarter next year.

Yeah the app2SD is a huge part of Froyo for me. I have paid apps that I can't even keep on the phone anymore because I have filled it up. Also the new camera/gallery apps are really nice and it saves having to install 3rd-party software for something that should just be part of the o/s

The frequency thing does make sense and I will take a look into it. But I know that others have been running 2.2.1 on their Milestones and I just want to find out how and which ROM they used.

Thanks for your reply though :)

YES!! :D

I couldn't find a radio update for NZ so I went out on a bit of a limb and downloaded the Canadian radio update:

http://dext3r.komodin.org/baseband/Radio_3G-Canada236-update-nosign.zip

Went into G.O.T and applied the update..... rebooted and BAM!!! full signal running at -61
3G is back up and running too :)

Have tested and SMS/MMS + Phone work perfect. I just need to test out the GPS now and see if it's fixed or not.

Am very happy, have a Milestone running 2.2.1 and all the goodies that go with it :D have just installed Flash via the market over the 3G connection.

Hope this helps some people on here and you are welcome to ask questions here if you need anything explained further

Derek

I picked up an XT Milestone last week and have been pretty tempted to try some custom roms. So far I have got as far as installing open recovery and doing a nandroid backup.

Can you post links to the files you used?

And any thoughts on the CM rom? Is there anything its missing?

I'm pretty happy with my phone at the moment, but can see myself needing apps2sd pretty soon.

Whats battery life like compared to the stock telecom rom? I only get about 15 hours at the moment.
