Hi tsakhi

You need to come read the Samsung Galaxy S thread on Geekzone.  Heaps of people there will be able to offer assistance, and it's the place to keep tabs on what's going on in the SGS community of users.

This is a reasonably straightforward guide: http://androidadvices.com/update-samsung-galaxy-s-gt-i9000-to-froyo-xxjpy-2-2-1/

Another easy method if not easier for a stock update to 2.2.1.  All 'Official'.....

-Install/use Kies which I imagine you have already have...not sure what versions it works with I used version 1.5.3.1013_102.
-Download Kies registry Patcher 1.7.0.0

-Run Kies and plug in phone
-Run registry Patcher
      -Change Enable Spoof to True
-Set Spoof Prod Code to XEU
      -Write to registry
-Check on Kies for updated firmware....DOWNLOAD ;)
-After that just reset Registry Patchr back to Enable Spoof=False and rewrite to registry

Easy as that and 'officially through kies'

I followed these instructions and the result was sadness. Trying to recover from it now.

PMFJI, and I don't mean to trample over longstanding Geekzone convention... but that seems like a very inefficient way to spread information. Especially considering the thread is well over 250 pages.

Isn't it better to have specific questions in their own thread? I know people should be searching the forum to see if their question is answered first, and this probably doesn't always happen. But is one bigass thread the solution to this problem?

Agreed. Reading the 2,500-ish posts in the main thread is more of a career than a useful suggestion.

Yeah I don't think reading the whole thread is great but you can ask questions in the thread and everyone there is pretty helpful.

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

I have to agree, I was going to suggest reading the thread but thought bugger that, I wouldnt. Be nice to have some "How to's" as a sticky, but then someone has to write them up and I have to wash my hair that day.
