I have two kind of related questions:

I can connect to the internet at work via a proxy server, but on Android, there seems to be numerous pitfalls

1/  Is there an app where I can save proxy settings, somewhere, then switch them on and off, depending on which network I connect to?

2/  Is there a way to make apps etc obey the not so global proxy settings configured under wireless settings?  It seems these are only used by the browser.  Everything else, including stuff like Android Market completely ignore these settings, so can't actually get on to the net.

TransProxy works but your device needs to be rooted (can easily be done with z4root if it isn't already rooted):

OK.  That's pretty poor form really that such a huge hole can still not be fixed properly in Android.

the most ironic thing is you can't even reach things like Android Market if you're accessing the internet via a proxy server.
