I'm wanting to purchase a Motorola Milestone 2. The one concern I have in regards to this is, does it operate on the 850Mhz UMTS WCDMA run by Telecom New Zealand's XT network. I'm not wanting to be on Vodafone's network as the speeds and 3G Coverage is very limited in comparison to Telecom.

GSMArena says no http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_milestone_2-3495.php

Looks like it only supports HSDPA 900/2100

There may be an 850mhz supported model but I can't find evidence of it.

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

another name for moto milestone 2 is droid 2 for US market. i think mobicity sell it.. http://www.mobicity.co.nz/motorola-droid-2-global.html My advice is to check with them first before you order it as the spec page is a bit confusing.

i think you should confirm with them before buying it. the easiest way is to ask them through the live support chat during office hours.
