Hey Guys,
My phone is 8years old and I have finally started looking into getting a new phone. Ive been reading reviews and forums for the last week trying to decide which android phone I should get. Was originally looking a phone that worked on XT until someone told me I could just keep my number and switch to 2Degrees hah.

Anyway, I'm a big fan of Google so have my eye on the Nexus S.

Im wondering if anyone has imported one of these from the US and if so, could they share their experience with me? Such as how much they were charged at customs?
I have a friend in the US so would it be worth getting her to send it to me as a gift?

Or should I wait for one of the dual core phones?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A co-worker of mine ordered his from Mobicity.co.nz....so it's locally bought and no warranty hassles.

He's very happy with it. I've had my hands on it several times and I'd be happy with it, too.

I'd say get one now and flog it on TradeMe when the dual-core phones come out...Sure, you'd have to add some cash, but you're trading up, not starting over.

I was lucky enough to have someone in the US who happened to be heading back to NZ after Christmas so I ordered one from Best Buy (they allow international orders as long as its shipped to an US address) and had it shipped to his place.

He had no problems with customs because it cost less (just) than NZ$700 so for me it was a great experience. Phone has been good too, have had two over-the-air updates so no issues with originating overseas.

if you not in a hurry and does not yet develop addiction to gadgets, just wait and get dual core that will last you for another 8 years :D

sure you can put that on trademe after dual core came out but that will take time and effort. on top of that you have trademe success fee.
