http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_i5800

According to Wikipedia and http://www.themanmade.com/samsung-galaxy/samsung-galaxy-i5801-froyo-2-2-now-officially-out-in-india-via-kies, Android 2.2 has been released for Samsung Galaxy 3 (i580), but only in India?

I uninstalled itunes, just so i could run Kies and get the update. But no. It says I'm already on the latest version >.<
Why? Why can't NZ or the rest of the world get the update? They've been putting it off for like nearly 6 months now. ----________----

You can download various versions of Android 2.2 for the Galaxy I5800 from http://www.samfirmware.com/firmware.htm . Look on http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=861 for more info and support, custom firmware etc.

Yeh I've been thinking of doing that, but I really wanna keep to the official one until the warrenty runs out. I'll keep those links though and if its not out by the time my warrenty runs out then ill do it.

Well 2.2 is still not out for us kiwi's, seems India is still the only place that has it through Kies. I want to upgrade through unofficial means now. I checked on samfirmware.com and entered my software version into this box, and it said my phones region is europe (it listed france, UK etc.. so I assume it means europe) and I don't know what to do now. Because the firmware is different for different regions, and since my phone was brought from VFNZ then I would have thought it'd be Oceania / Australia.

So what one should I do?

Contacted Samsung and they said it has been released for galaxy 3, but only in India at this stage. They said to call vodafone NZ because they would have to authorise it for our NZ brought phones. So I called them, first rep was all like "no we can't help you with that you need to go in store" so i called back again, and spoke to someone else who said they don't know when or if they will ever release it for our phones. -_____-. They're pretty quick I bet to release them for the Galaxy s devices. But we still paid nearly 450bux for this thing, not a cheap phone so they should atleast give us an OS which is already obsolete but works and better than the horrible one we have now.

Our guys at work will be pissed after the Voda rep put his hand over heart in December  and said that they would be upgrade 1Q2011.

Me and a mate are considering sending a formal letter to Vodafone requesting a proper reason as to why its being delayed by so much. India has it, they have Vodafone IN over there which I assume is the carrier releasing the update to them, why not do it in NZ? they only have to put in the internet settings and send it off. Samsung's done all the hard work
