So I recieved my Samsung Galaxy S2 the other day after ordering it from Clove and waiting for 2 weeks for them to get it in stock! Ever since I have been using it a whole load of funny things have happened to it.

Firstly the battery even after 5 days of properly discharging and recharging only seems to last 6 hours... When I look at the battery graph it seems to be 'awake' most of the time.

Quite a lot of the time i pull the phone out and the lock screen is on without pressing anything. When it does this it will just stay on this screen and wont turn off which discharges the battery even quicker. Sometimes it will also freeze when I try to unlock or turn the screen off forcing me to pull the battery out.

When it is in my pocket with the screen off it is usually pretty warm leading me to think that its doing something more than the usual syncing with facebook and email etc.

I have had it restart a few times on me and start up with all the colours on the screen strange until it goes right a few minutes later.

I am now also having problems hooking it up to my pc as the kies app wont start so i cant get anything off the phone..

HELP PLEASE!

What I want to know is what I should do because I love this phone and i just want it to work properly :( . Is this an easily rectified problem by doing a hard reset or flashing it with the firmware again? Or should I send it back to Clove to get the problem sorted out?

Comming from an iphone for last 3 years Im also interested about a proceedure to reboot if its necessary?

save any data to the external sd card and do a hard reset, thats the most logical thing to do first. let us know how you get on after that.

Okay so I did the hard reset and it wouldnt let me via the traditional way so i did the volume up +home button + power startup and then selected the wipe option. I still cant get it to connect to the pc as kies doesnt start up and upon first boot all the colours went slightly blue and then the display was inverted... It sometimes also turns itself back on after i switch the device off without touching the power button.... Gahhh!

What is the next step after this? After using it tomorrow I will be able to see if the battery has got better also.

Notify Clove about the issue for a start, sounds like its faulty to me. Back in the SGS II owners thread, early on, I think Nztechfreak said that he got a faulty SGS I (one) swapped by Clove as it was faulty on delivery. In fact I think they sent him a new one before they received his faulty one back.

if its turning off and on perhaps its got a sticky power button.

You could try doing a fireware update via odin.
If you ment kies doesnt load when you plug it in...on my computer it was supposed too, but it never did, i had to launch it manualy...it would always find the phone....but it was touch and go as to weather it would actually do anything (update firmware - backup stuff) hence I moved to odin

Its borked, send it back. This is not how a normal phone performs from new.

I will be notifying Clove straight after I write this. The issues have gotten worse with the screen coming on and staying on every 5 mins..

I meant that the kies app wont start on the phone when it is plugged in so I cant get my stuff off it unless I put it on my memory card.

Also I got the phone with the KE7 version of the firmware so I believe that it is the latest one anyway?

What sort of charges am I looking at apart from postage there and a discounted rate back? I dont have to pay gst on importation again do I??

Thanks heaps guys. Guess its back to my trusty Galaxy s for a few days/weeks :(

Have just sent my s2 back to Clove :(
Does anybody know if they will sting me with GST when it comes back into the country? Dont wanna pay that again...

Probably.. bastards... The battery on my S2 is real bad to, There is an issue with Android OS or something chewing up the battery ill try find the article, theres an easy fix. Just need to freeze an app

If it is documented that it is being returned for repair (and you can prove it) you will not have to pay any additional GST

Would be interested to know more of this... Battery life on my phone all of a sudden went from 24~36hrs down to 8~10hrs, for the life of me i couldn't work it out then I noticed a game that i never play using massive amounts of cpu, deleted the game and phone seems to have come right albeit not as good as it was. I think hte game updated itself and the update was bad as the game had been installed for weeks without any issue

Most of the issue is the crappy social hub and wifi sharing, so unless you want to use your phone as a wifi hot spot freeze the 3 apps mentioned (i just deleted them from system) but have a read through...

Hi,
just wondering if these battery issues are a common problem and i've also heard the galaxy s2 gets a very poor wifi signal compared to other phones. Just wondering if anyone can let me know thier experiences with these areas.
