Just in case you haven't caught up with the latest free Galaxy S version of the Navigon Navigator app recently, good news abounds.
Localised pronunciation of names is way better in Svox turn-by-turn, including Maori "wh" pronounced "f", for example.
St as in "saint" is now pronounced properly, no longer "street" (St as in "street" was always correctly pronounced)
Rd as in "road" is no longer pronounced "arr-dee"
Ave as in "avenue" is no longer pronounced "ah-vay"
Dr as in "drive" is no longer pronounced "dee-arr"
and so on.
Lane assist is now free with the latest update so you don't have to spring for the safety extras pack. And it's very good.
For those unfamiliar with Navigon, it's easily as good a nav app as Google's Maps Nav, but has the great advantage that it stores complete area maps for NZ and Oz on your SGS so you won't be using your precious data allowance to navigate and your route recalculations happen virtually instantly should you need them.
As this app is intended for Oz SGS variants, you'll need root and Market Enabler to spoof an Aussie carrier in order to download and update. Spoofing 50502 works.
This is a class app made virtually perfect with the recent updates.
Highly recommended.
Cheers,
