Greetings all,

After giving up on Samsung Kies (which sucks harder than a collapsing star!), I eventually downloaded my music to the media/audio/... folder using USB.

What's peoples opinion of the stock music player? has anybody managed to enable the elusive 5.1 mode?

I've been trailing PowerAMP and PlayerPro, both of which do a great job. But the more I try to decided, the more I think I should stay with the stock music player. It's simple, not as bloated as the other 2 and is well integrated with the system/lock screen.

Both PowerAMP and Player Pro are feature rich, but does anybody know which of the two is the better program? (or has the fastest development cycle) I know I'm splitting hairs for sake of a few dollars, but I want to have that 'killer App' that'll give a similar, if not better experience than a iProduct.

Laurence.

I run powerAMP and it has its own lockscreen, and that will bypass the factory one if you want it to.
Fairly regular updates.
Never tried player pro as I'd heard powerAMP was the best when I bought it, and haven't needed anything else (except TuneIn radio)

edit:m I'm using CM7 on an LGP500 if that makes any difference

Thanks for the reply,

I'll still test both for the trail periods, but Power AMP has the lead because of the UI. The one I'll go for is the one that is updated regularly (and therefore more likely to have new features added), but as you mention, PowerAMP looks to be the winner already.

Thanks for the heads up on TuneIn radio, I liked the streaming radio app that I had on on my Nokia N95, nice to keep the tradition going.

I'm actually using UberMusic. It's still in Beta and lacks an EQ, but is a great music player. I'm also using Phantom Music Controls for the lockscreen.

I previously used PowerAmp, but love UberMusic.

Hi,

I tried that within minutes of starting the app, but it keeps saying that it won't work unless the effects are off. I set the effects to 'Normal' as this is the only visible to switch the effects off, but the 5.1 button still insists that the effects are on. It doesn't matter now as I purchased PowerAmp. I checked the developers website and they actively update it with features.

PowerAMP is the best player, period.

I think for 5.1 sound you must have headphones attached (don't know if you did or not).

I aso use Ubermusic, fantastic looking player with the Zune skin, but very limited compared to PowerAMP (early days though, I've been using it since the Alpha started and there has been great improvement and features added already in last few weeks).

Yes the headphones were attached. Funnily enough both the 'Sound effect' and 'Equaliser' have to be set to normal for the 5.1 to activate. Damn sneaky plurals!
